What do you smell when you pick up a glass of wine? Are you transported to a previous dinner, an experience, or do you find yourself wondering "what is that....", that elusive aroma that is just beyond your memory grasp? During her 20 years in wine, Laura has always been curious of how we develop the mental pathways that allow us to associate aroma and flavor. She is bringing that expertise and curiosity to you, in a class tailored to do more than tell you what Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir smell like. This class is a foray into aroma, using specially designed aroma kits to assess your ability to recognize common scents, and techniques taught to develop your sensory perception. 

In this 2-hour intimate session, Laura will help you learn to hone in on your sensory perception, increasing your ability to identify and understand what you are experiencing in wine. With a smell identification kit for each guest, an aroma sensory kit to explore, and 8 examples of wine, you'll learn how you personally identify and detect aromas, and apply those to wine.  

Laura Maniec is one of 32 women in the world to achieve the title of Master Sommelier and is the owner of Corkbuzz - which has now grown to two locations in New York City, the flagship 13th street location and the bustling Chelsea Market. Her inspiration behind the restaurant & wine bar hails from big Italian Sunday night dinners with her grandmother, Rose, and the delightful ambiance of Parisian Bars. The Wall Street Journal called Laura the “It Girl” of the New York wine scene and Food &  Wine Magazine named her one of 2013’s Sommeliers of the Year.

Cost: $250 per person (minimum of 4 guests, maximum of 8 per session)

Included: Smell Identification Test & assessment for each guest, access to Sommelier Aroma Kit with 88 aromas, 8 wines, and personalized instruction with Laura Maniec. You will be emailed instructions before the session with "prep homework" that will ask you to list certain aromas based on your likes, dislikes, and associations. Your Identification tests will be yours to take home, the Sommelier Aroma kit is not included to take.
